I wanted to be sure the viewer sees the video of a veteran who survived this battle; then the documentary. This is followed by a detailed account from actual, unedited footage taken by those who were there; in color. There is no soundtrack. In silence, we see the actions by air, the troops on the ground, and our navy. No Hollywood glamor, no fancy dramatics, just the grim reality. The high cost in lives was duplicated in every assault on the Japanese held islands.
Viewing comments on YouTube; I was disgusted. One moron was wanting the footage in “HD”… The images contained are both clear, and surprisingly in color; as opposed to Hollywood war pictures made after WW II, many of which were falsely dramatized, and in black and white.
